About Sarah

Sarah was a childhood cellist and then, in her twenties, she swapped music for theatre, studying acting at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne. Later she travelled and toured overseas, studying with renowned international theatre practitioners including Kristin Linklater, Anne Bogart, Yoshi Oida and Philippe Gaulier.

Early in her career, Sarah co wrote and performed four solo shows, winning Victorian Green Room Awards for acting and writing. She appeared in the Melbourne International Arts Festival, for Malthouse Theatre and performed twice at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She has toured extensively around Australia, the UK and the east coast of the United States.

In more recent times, she has written and directed for circus, youth theatre and for a number of independent theatre companies in Australia and Asia.

As a solo actor, Sarah has a thorough understanding of how to manage nerves, how to engender a powerful level of performance energy and integrate body, voice and content with clear intention.

Sarah currently teaches acting at the Victorian College of the Arts in the Foundation Program. She has also taught at Melbourne University, La Trobe University, Victoria University, Swinburne University, Rusden State College and in the USA.

Training full time over three years in the Alexander Technique, Sarah is a full member of the Australian Alexander Technique professional association – AUSTAT

Sarah has taught the Alexander Technique to musicians, actors, singers, engineers, gardeners, golfers, barristers, visual artists, hairdressers, office workers, Buddhist chanters, swimmers, runners, dog walkers and children – all how to apply the Alexander Technique to their chosen profession or selected activity.
